From Complaining to Gratitude

Reading: Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Phil 4:6-7: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

1 Thess 5:16-18: Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Devotional: The Israelites' journey from slavery to freedom was marked by frequent complaints. Despite God's faithfulness, they often longed for the familiarity of Egypt rather than embracing the promise of a new future. Today's readings remind us to cultivate gratitude in all circumstances. Paul encourages us to "give thanks in all circumstances" and to bring our requests to God with thanksgiving. Consider areas in your life where you tend to complain.

How might shifting your perspective to one of gratitude change your outlook and your relationship with God? Challenge yourself to start and end each day this week by naming three things you're thankful for, especially in difficult situations.
