The Holy Spirit's Grief

Devotional: The Holy Spirit is not a force but a Person—the divine Presence dwelling within every believer. And He can be grieved. When our speech contradicts Christ's character—through lying, corrupt words, bitterness, or slander—we wound the One who seals us for redemption. This sobering truth elevates the seriousness of our words. Our speech is not merely a social issue; it's a spiritual matter. Every careless word, every harsh tone, every bit of gossip grieves the Spirit who indwells us. Yet this same Spirit empowers transformation. He convicts, cleanses, and enables grace-filled speech when we yield to Him.

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart. Where have you grieved Him? Confess it, receive His forgiveness, and invite His control over every word you speak.
