Rest for the Weary
Rest for the Weary Reading: Matthew 11:28-30
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Devotional: Jesus invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. This invitation stands in stark contrast to Martha's anxious busyness. True rest is found not in the absence of activity, but in the presence of Jesus.
When we take on Jesus' yoke - submitting to His leadership and priorities - we find that His burden is light. This doesn't mean life becomes easy, but that we no longer carry our burdens alone. We find strength, peace, and purpose in walking closely with Him.
Are there areas of your life where you feel overwhelmed or burdened? Bring these to Jesus today. Ask Him to teach you how to walk in His easy yoke and light burden.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You with all my burdens. Teach me to rest in You, to walk in step with You, and to find refreshment for my soul in Your presence.
