Understanding God's Kingdom Reading: Genesis 1:26-28, Matthew 6:33

Gen 1:26-28-Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Matthew 6:33- But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Devotional: As we begin this journey, let's reflect on God's original intent for humanity. In Genesis, we see that God created us to have dominion over the earth - to be stewards of His creation. This wasn't just a task, but a reflection of our status as beings made in His image. However, as we know, sin entered the world and disrupted this perfect plan.

Yet, in Matthew 6:33, Jesus redirects our focus back to God's kingdom. When He tells us to "seek first the kingdom of God," He's inviting us to realign our priorities with God's original design. Today, consider how you might be putting worldly concerns before God's kingdom. How can you shift your focus to seek God's rule and righteousness in your life? Remember, as you do this, God promises to provide for your needs.
