Devotion in Daily Life
Reading:
Luke 10:38-42
38 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who was also seated at the Lord’s feet, and was listening to His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do the serving by myself? Then tell her to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; 42 but only one thing is necessary; for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
Psalm 5:3
In the morning, Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will present my prayer to You and be on the watch.
Psalm 119:15
I will meditate on Your precepts And regard Your ways.
Devotional:
The story of Mary and Martha teaches us about prioritizing time with Jesus amidst life's busyness. Mary chose the "good part" by sitting at Jesus' feet, showing her devotion through listening and learning.
Consider your daily routine. Are you more like Martha, distracted by many tasks, or Mary, prioritizing time with Jesus? Reflect on how you can incorporate more moments of devotion into your day. This might mean waking up earlier for prayer, meditating on Scripture during your commute, or setting aside time to simply be in God's presence.
Remember, devotion isn't about perfection, but consistency. Like the psalmist, aim to seek God in the morning and meditate on His word throughout the day. How can you make your relationship with God a central part of your daily life?
Prayer: Father, help me to prioritize our relationship amidst life's demands. May I find joy in spending time with You daily.
