The Power of Forgiveness

Reading:

Ephesians 4:29-32

29 Let no [a]unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification [b]according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, [c]by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 All bitterness, wrath, anger, [d]clamor, and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven [e]you.

Luke 23:32-34

32 Now two others, who were criminals, were also being led away to be put to death with Him.

33 And when they came to the place called [a]The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. 34 [[b]But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”] And they cast lots, dividing His garments among themselves.

Devotional:

Forgiveness is at the heart of the gospel. Jesus forgave even those who crucified Him, setting an example of radical love and mercy. As forgiven people, we are called to extend that same forgiveness to others. Is there someone you need to forgive?

Reflect on how God's forgiveness has impacted your life, and ask Him for the strength to forgive as you have been forgiven. Take a step towards reconciliation today, even if it's just in your heart.
