The Power of Humility
The Power of Humility
Luke 8:40-42 So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him. And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell doBut He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
Devotional: Jairus, a synagogue ruler, humbled himself before Jesus, falling at His feet to plead for his daughter's life. This act of humility opened the door for a miraculous intervention.
Today, reflect on areas in your life where pride may be hindering God's work. How can you cultivate a spirit of humility? Remember, God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Consider ways you can humble yourself before God and others, creating space for His power to move in your life.
