Prioritizing God's Presence
Prioritizing God's Presence Reading: Luke 10:38-42
Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Devotional: In our fast-paced world, it's easy to become like Martha - distracted by many things and missing out on what truly matters. Today's passage reminds us of the importance of prioritizing time with Jesus above all else. Mary chose to sit at Jesus' feet, soaking in His presence and teachings. This "good portion" that Jesus spoke of is available to us too.
Reflect on your own life: Are you more like Martha or Mary? How can you create more space in your day to simply be with Jesus? Remember, it's not about neglecting responsibilities, but about putting first things first. When we prioritize our relationship with God, He gives us the wisdom and strength to handle everything else.
Prayer: Lord, help me to choose the "good portion" today. May I seek Your face above all else, trusting that as I do, You will order my steps and priorities.
