Love Demonstrated Through Obedience

Reading: John 14:15-21,

15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another [a]Helper, so that He may be with you forever; 17 the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.

18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you. 19 [b]After a little while, the world no longer is going to see Me, but you are going to see Me; because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I in you. 21 The one who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him.”

1 John 5:1-5

5 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the [a]Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the [b]Father loves the child born of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and [c]follow His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For [d]whoever has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.

5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Devotional:

Jesus tells us that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments. This isn't about following rules out of fear or obligation, but about aligning our hearts with God's will out of love. Reflect on how your obedience to God's Word demonstrates your love for Him. Are there areas in your life where you're resisting God's commands? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you see obedience as an act of love rather than a burden.

Today, choose one area where you can actively demonstrate your love for God through obedience.
